A few, and it has to be said mostly those with roots comfortably embedded in the Labour camp, questioned the validity of the organisation's claim to be an 'independent non-party Welsh think-tank' when its centre-right leanings were so apparent.<br /><br />Detractors have now decided to further undermine the fledgling outfit by pointing out that £75 a seat invitations to the inaugural conference - jointly staged with the IWA - have been sent out from the assembly email address of Sarah Sharpe, one of David Melding's support staff.<br /><br />The event is headlined as "<a href="http://www.gorwel.co/wordpress/?p=1498">Can Welsh public services thrive without the market</a>" and Melding is the keynote speaker. This has prompted smart-arse critics to question if think-tanks can survive without informal state subsidy.
