Nobody outside of Yorkshire had even heard of <b><a href="http://www.itv.com/news/story/2013-08-07/fury-at-bongo-bong-land-remarks-ukip-godfrey-bloom/">Godfrey Bloom</a> </b>until this morning. And now that we've been appraised that a Ukip MEP is opposed to international aid, we're left asking just how much this silly-season exposé is supposed to add to the sum of human knowledge.<br /><br />An unrepentant Bloom assured reporters that he would not repeat his 'Bongo-Bongo Land' references but insisted that he had probably performed a public service with his straight talking. As objectionable as his attention-seeking posturing may be, the unpleasant reality is that he's most likely correct. Despite the contrived media outrage, most people would prefer their politicians to tell it like it is (or how they see it) rather than move their mouths in a carefully phrased on-message sound bite.<br /><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US"><br /></span><span lang="EN-US">As things stand, it's still the spin that dominates and it's only a matter of time that ministers looking to package bad news as something else attempt to emulate online design store boss Jason Goldberg. </span>Last week, the <i>Fab</i> chief executive officer announced a swathe of redundancies by telling 100 employees that he was the actually providing them with an "opportunity to start your new job search immediately."</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The potential is endless.<o:p></o:p></span></div><!--EndFragment--><br> 2013 2013 2013 <br>Let's be honest.
